Daily Schedule

~8:30 -       Training/Orientation: When you arrive at the school, you will be provided a training session.

~ 9:15 -      Opening Ceremony: This is typically an hour long ceremony to kick off the day that includes performances from other grades, chorus, band, and/or orchestra.

~10:15-      Simulated Congressional Hearings: In groups of 3, judges will rotate to the different classrooms to listen to students' speeches and ask them follow-up questions.

~12:45 -      Lunch: Lunch is provided by the school if the event is a full-day event.

~1:15-1:45  Roundtable discussions: An informal gathering where students can ask judges questions.

The official webpage of the Howard County Public School System's Simulated Congressional Hearings (SCH). During the SCH, students assume the roles of Constitutional experts and prepare speeches using supporting current events. They present these speeches before a panel of judges, followed by a question and answer session.
